AAW Racing Team

Back in the 70’s a Formula 1 team called AAW Racing Team participated in six different races during the season. The team was Finnish and private. Before participating in the F1, the team raced in other motorsport series and F3.

AAW Racing Team used a Surtees TS16 Formula 1 car. The car was old test car of Surtees and wasn’t in really good condition. It was too heavy and low powered and for that reason it was impossible to find good tires for it.

Leo Kinnunen, the driver, did not pass from the preliminaries not even once, but was accepted to one race in Sweden due to PR reasons.

Now AAW is back with new team, new car and new, young, ambitious engineering and racing talent. The budget might be low, but this is not going to be an insuperable obstacle for the teams desires.
