Alexander Van Turnhout, a prospect or a wannabe? Part 1 Racing for a contract

Title: Fighting for a contract

Alexander Van Turnhout was only seventeen, but already a legend in the making. In the paddock at Zolder, mechanics and team managers whispered his name like it was a secret weapon. Since the age of six, he’d been tearing around Flemish circuits in go-karts, and now he sat behind the wheel of a Formula 4-YthCupSeries car that roared like a beast begging to be unleashed.

It was the final race of the season. He was second in the championship, just one point behind the leader: the arrogant Frenchman Jules Moreau. They lined up side by side on the front row of the grid. Alexander glanced over. Jules gave him a confident nod. Alexander replied with a smile that promised trouble.

5 reds, 4 reds, 3 reds, 2 reds, Full Focus, 1 red!!! The start lights went out. Go!!!

Alexander's reflexes were flawless. He shot forward, just ahead of Jules, and took the first corner in the lead. The next twenty laps were war. Millimeters between their cars, slipstreams, defending, attacking — racing in its purest form.

Final lap. One corner left. Alexander led by half a second. But he knew: Jules would try something. He would risk it all in that final chicane. And he did. Jules dived in late, tires screaming. But Alexander had read it, as if he’d written the script himself.

He held the outside line, perfect traction.

They flew across the finish. The gap: 0.041 seconds.

Alexander had won.

In the pit lane, he was hoisted onto shoulders. The boy from Belgiuml, who chased his dreams faster than the wind, was champion and recieved his first pro contract for the Beginner Series S61, let's find out what he's worth...
