Pegaso Driver Development Programme - Season 63 update
Season 63 is already more than halfway through, so it's high time for a new update. Most positions in the season series are now pretty much decided. Hopefully, everyone has been able to build up some ratings and is continuing to develop their driver in the right direction.
This time, there is no need for links to old articles. The table now also shows the evolution, both in terms of ranking and in terms of Hot Seat Score, compared to last season's overview.
When one looks at the percentages won, something catches the eye. Strong climbers such as Juan Barnard, Xiao Lamas, Arnau Massanet, Terry A Wilson, Ivo Colemann, and a few others all have something in common. They are all in the Top 5 of better rated series, a series where most opponents are somewhat older than themselves. Doing well here allows them to gain more rating than many of their peers. As you know, better rating means better sponsors, which means better training, which means faster development for your driver.

But, you have to be able to deliver as well. It's not enough to just enter your driver in such a series. Most of those older opponents have better skills, and yet you have to beat them regularly. That brings us to one of the most underrated aspects of MRC, namely the racing itself.
When starting to play this game, it can be challenging to prepare for a race. That often involves ups and downs. You pit too often, drive on worn tires, drive on slicks during a rain shower, constantly have DNFs, or lose races because of that one big mistake... We've all experienced these things and had to learn how to deal with them.

Thankfully, help is available in the manual, on the forum or from a friendly user. And luckily, at some point you will have more or less mastered everything and developed a certain routine. Once you have that, a new challenge arises. You now have everything under control and with that established routine you can go on for years, sometimes literally.
It is important that you continue to question everything as much as possible. Do you really understand how setup parameters, fuel, tyre wear and risks work and how they add to your performance? Are you getting everything out of your tyres and your car during practice, qualifying and races? Are you taking into account all the strategic options at your disposal? Are you considering all the scenarios that could arise?

The road to greatness consists of many things. Developing your driver is one, career planning is another, but don't underestimate the importance of racing itself. If you pay attention, you will notice that many of the top drivers are able to regularly outperform themselves. If you feel that your driver is not getting the results you would expect, ask yourself why. And if you can't find the answer, ask someone who might know. At Pegaso, we are always ready to help in any way we can.
Just like last season, we have awarded some stars. Not among them this time? Maybe next time. Good luck and until then.
